Imphal, July 04 2011:
A team of Fraternity of East Eyes Line Society, an NGO based in Delhi, today visited Naga River Colony, where the State Government is planning to set up a 5-Star hotel.
After analysing the facts and circumstances, the NGO raised certain questions to the State Government on its proposed plan of acquiring land at the locality.
The organisation questioned who would take the land of Naga River if the public/private/company rejects Government's proposed PPP model.
Questioning whether the mandatory provisions of Section 22, 23, 29 (3), 31 of the Manipur Town Planning Act 1975 have been complied with in planning to set up a luxury hotel in the area, the NGO pointed out that the Government is becoming the law breaker of its own law.
The NGO also asked where the rules for rehabilitation and resettlement of affected people have gone if the Government has to evict residents from the locality.

It also observed that the Government must look for the overall welfare of the people but not to trouble its own citizens in initiating any developmental project.
Meanwhile, National Integration Council Member Dr John Dayal who visited Naga River colony last week submitted his team's findings and recommendations to UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on July 2 .
