Weeklong legal awareness campaign begins

In connection with Legal Services Day, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) inaugurated a weeklong legal awareness campaign on Wednesday morning.
The campaign was kicked off by Manipur High Court Justice Ahanthem Bimol, who is also the executive chairman of MASLSA, by flagging off a mobile van from MASLSA s office located within Lamphel Court complex.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by MASLSA member secretary Alek Muivah, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West RK Memcha, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal East W Tonen Meitei, judicial officers of Cheirap Court and Lamphel Court complexes, Imphal West district police SP Ksh Shivakanta, advocates Ch Momon and Supriya, paralegal volunteers and staff of legal services authority.
After the ceremony, the mobile van parked in front of Ima Keithel and Cheirap Court complex and gave legal awareness to the public, in addition to distributing leaflets on the same.
During the campaign, an interaction programme was also held, wherein the participants were presented with prizes.
The campaign at Cheirap Court complex was participated by students of Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and Success Academy.
As part of the weeklong campaign, legal literacy awareness programmes will be held at various places including jails, institutions and localities, along with conduct of painting competitions for children at different relief camps.
