Imphal, July 27 2014 :
The Manipur Lagislative Assembly's had twice deci-ded on the implemen-tation of ILP in the State.
Referring to this decisions, Kh Mani questioned the usefulness of adopting these resolutions in the State Assembly when the Government has no plans of implementing the system, as yet.
Khaidem Mani, Secretary of the Senior Citizens' society, Manipur and president of the All Manipur Bar Association made the above statement in a press meet held at his residence in Loklaobung today.
Lending support to the strong wave of protest agitation sweeping across Manipur valley for the implementation of ILP in the State, Mani told media persons that the Assembly, supported by 60 Lagislative Assembly Members, had twice decided on the implementation of the act.
However, neither the centre nor the State had taken any measure to enforce the system till now.
Talking about the Privilege motion issued on a Human rights activist, Mani said that the Government ought to consider the grounds that had fuelled such voices.
According to him, it is the governments' failure to convert the Lagislative Assembly's decision into action which has bred contempt for the Government among the people.
He further demanded persecution of the police personnel involved in the thrashing of student protesters.
Senior Citizens Society, Manipur general secretary Prof Laishram Sadananda, also spoke on the event.
He said the Centre has not, as yet, gave valid reason to the public as to why ILP should not be implemented.
He further expressed his displeasure on the police action upon the students stating that the authority ought to take disciplinary action against them.
He further appealed to the State Government to come up with an amicable solution.
