Imphal, July 23 2012:
Thousands of students enrolled in CBSE affiliated schools of Manipur who hardly attended class have been allowed to clear Class X without ever sitting the common exam, alleged DESAM.
Speaking to media persons today, DESAM president Wangmayum Islauddin said that authorities of MM Hr Sec School Wangkhei, Little Rose School Canchipur, Bhakti Vedanta Institute Sangaiprou and Central Academy have been colluding with CBSE authority to declare clearance of class X exam by around 1900 students anew.
But the class X exam results have been already declared.
Earlier too, thousands of students were registered for class X exam after the last date of form submission and registration against roll numbers assigned to other students in these four schools and some other CBSE affiliated schools.
These schools charged Rs 1000 to Rs 3000 per student for such registration against roll numbers of other students.
Agents who brought such non-attending students got Rs 5000 .
In short, one student has to spend Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 to clear class X exam in such dubious manner.
Whatever amount left after paying agents, registration fees and form submission fees was gobbled up by the school authorities, Islauddin said.
For the CBSE Exam of 2012, the last date for registration was December 31, 2011 .
Thousands of students turned to CBSE after around 7000 students who tried to register for class X exam (conducted by BSEM) in faulty manner were turned down.
Last year too, around 200 students were allowed to clear class X without sitting the exam.
But this year, around 2500 students did not sit the CBSE exam.
A single school applied to CBSE for registration of more than 1000 students just for class X exam.
But many of these schools had only 15 to 20 students in class IX in the previous year.
It remains a big question how the strength of students jumped multiple times within a year.
Moreover, there is no admission receipt, formative assessment record, summative assessment report, answer script, mark record or attendance record for any of these students.
While examination admit card was issued in the name of a single students, multiple students were declared passed when results were out against the same roll number, Islauddin said.
All these fraudulent activities were carried out by the authority of CBSE Guwahati regional centre after charging Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per student, he alleged.
Former Ukhrul DC and current CBSE Chairman Binid Joshi is also involved in this game of fraud.
Highlighting the menace which would arise out of complete commercialisation of education in such manner, DESAM sought immediate attention of the Government.
