Manipur was never a part of India, says CorCom

Imphal, August 18, 2012:
The CorCom has categorically stated that Manipur and its people were never a part of India in any period of history.
Reacting to the editorial write-up of local daily which reportedly lamented that the Indian Independence Day cannot be celebrated freely and that the Indian national anthem has been forgotten, the CorCom remarked that these comments were poles apart from the reality of the land.
These comments only indicated that the particular newspaper is being published as a mouthpiece of the alien rule, the CorCom asserted in a press statement.
It was not surprising that Editors who are only seeking privileged positions within the Indian corrupt democratic system took birth in Manipur.
This disturbing trend is a product of Indias corrupt democracy and hegemonic institutional culture.
The particular Editor was only exposing his/her fallacy by overlooking the fact that Manipur was forcibly merged into India just 63 years back in 1949. The attempt to mislead the mass by preaching that Manipuris should be proud of being Indians only exposed that the particular Editor was a black sheep.
"We were/are never Indians and nor will ever be", the CorCom asserted.
After the forced and treacherous merger of Manipur into India, the distinctive identity of the indigenous people is being obliterated by the day, and their distinctive identity is being threatened to the stage of complete disappearance.
The Government of India has been consistently scheming to obliterate and ultimately assimilate the indigenous peoples among the mainland Indians.
It is one of their conspiracy to divert the overflowing Indian population to Manipur and these immigrants have settled in every nook and cranny of the State.
Compelled by a similar situation, Bodos in Assam have to confront with immigrants resulting in a violent clash recently.
All these were results of the Government of Indias sinister policy pursued over the years.
As a counter strike of the violence in Assam, people of Western South East Asia (North East India) who are physically different from Indians are being driven back from different States of India.
People were assaulted in different cities of India after asking if they were from the so called North East region.
Even as the people of North East region were assaulted and injured right in front of their eyes, the Indian leaders have been trying to project the whole events as mere rumours rather than protecting the victims.
The attitude and words of Indian leaders reflected quite glaringly they have little respect and empathy for the indigenous people of Western South East Asia, it alleged.
This was not the first time North Eastern people were targeted and harassed in different cities of India.
There were many cases when the North Eastern people were teased by calling them 'chinky'with racist outlook.
Many people of North East region were killed and many women raped in different cities of India, the committee pointed out.
Those Ministers and MLAs who claimed to be citizens of free India just because they were receiving material benefits from New Delhi were shameless sycophants who have no love or respect for their own nation, it alleged.
The recent attacks on North East people was a timely reminder to people of the region about their position and status vis-a-vis India and its ploys to divide and distort the history of the region.
Conveying gratitude to all the people of the region for the solidarity they showed to the call for boycott and general strike on Indian Independence Day, the CorCom called upon all the people of the region to shed all feelings of division but stand united and wage a war of liberation collectively.
