Imphal, February 18 2017:
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary and MLA Th Biswajit has interpreted Congress party as a party of corruption.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, Biswajit said that taking the names of NSCN-IM, UNC and NPF while churning out volumes of propaganda against BJP would not do anything good to Congress.
Congress party's electioneering tactics of covering up their own wrongdoings and rampant corruption behind the facades of NSCN-IM, UNC and NPF cannot hoodwink the voters.
Reacting to Chief Minister O Ibobi's assertion that the State's due shares and development funds entitled to the State cannot be denied by the Central Government, the BJP MLA asked the Chief Minister if there was any case of the Central Government withholding or denying the State's due shares.
With many departments including Sports Department and Tourism Department unable to utilise funds in time, the State Government is unable to submit utilisation certificates of over Rs 5000 crore.
The Central Government released Rs 66.47 crore for the State under MGNREGA in November last year.
As per instructions, the amount should be utilised within three/four months but the same amount has not been utilised till date.
As a result, the State is now compelled to bear an interest of 12 per cent, Biswajit said.
If the State has enough resources and funds, the Government out to release salaries of Government teachers which have not been paid for the past six months or so.
Rejecting the Congress party's allegation that BJP has been conspiring to disintegrate Manipur, Biswajit said that it was Congress which first dealt a blow to the integrity of Manipur.
This was testified beyond doubt when Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru gifted away Kabow Valley to Myanmar which used to accrue around Rs 1350 crore to the State exchequer annually.
Maintaining that the Congress Government did not say anything when Nagaland encroached upon Dzuko Valley in Manipur, the BJP MLA said that the Congress Government should come with a clarification regarding the issue.
Flatly rejecting the Congress party's allegation that BJP attempted to impose President's Rule in Manipur, Biswajit clarified that they always opposed the idea of imposing President's Rule in Manipur.
State BJP leaders suggested not impose President's Rule when they met Central leaders even though the State saw such a grave situation where President's Rule was warranted.
The situation improved only after essential supplies were brought along Imphal-Jiribam highway with CRPF escorts, Biswajit added.
