Downward swing continues with 81 new cases : COVID-19 claims three more lives

Even though the number of COVID-19 positive cases has been declining in the State since the last couple of days, three more succumbed to the virus, taking the official death toll 332 .
However, the death of an army Colonel, a 42-year old man from Imphal West and a 76-year old woman who expired at Shija Hospital on December 10 have not been accounted in the official figure.
In the last 24 hours, three persons aged 70 (male, Imphal West), 62 (female, Imphal West) and 76 (male, Chandel) expired at Shija Hospital and RIMS Hospital, informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, In the meantime, 81 people including 12 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal West, Hillside Hospital, CMC, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, Advance Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl and Babina Diagnostics.
The 69 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of mphal West (21), Imphal East (20), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (1), Senapati (1), Kangpokpi (1), Pherzawl (1) and Churachandpur (3) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 143 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (12), home isolation (100), RIMS (6), JNIMS (6), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (5), CCC UNACCO (4), Raj Medicity (1), Kakching (2), Churachandpur (1), Bal Bhavan (3) and Thoubal (3).The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,454 (general population 24,130 and Central security personnel 3,324) .
It includes 1.872 active cases (general population 1,670 and Central security personnel 202) and 25,250 discharged cases (general population 22.132 and Central security personnel 3,118) .
The recovery rate stands at 91.97 per cent.
