Imphal, February 15:
As the tripartite talk attended by representatives of the agitating All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union, IOC officials and FCS Minister Y Erabot failed to arrive at any understanding, the tanker drivers have resolved to continue with their agitation.
The tripartite talk chaired by the FCS Minister was held at hi office chamber this morning.
After the failed talk, Y Erabot asserted that the IOC should work out a solution so that the drivers suspend their stir and resume their duty.
It is the IOC's concern to solve the impasse, said the Minister.
Maintaining that the IOC should have at least one month's stock of fuel, Erabot asserted that the IOC cannot claim shortage of fuel oil only after two/three days of the drivers' agitation.
He further informed that FCS officials will be instructed to inspect existing stock in oil pumps located in Imphal area.
On the other hand, president of the All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh informed that today's meeting was attended by IOC State level coordinator cum deputy manager KI Singh, depot manager Amar Jyoti and representatives of the drivers' union.
Rather than considering the demands of the Union, its representatives were ordered at the meeting to resume transportation of fuel oil.
Maintaining that the ongoing agitation is illegal, the representatives were also threatened that the tanker drivers will be arrested in case they continue their agitation, conveyed Bhupenchandra Ghosh.
However, the drivers' union maintained that their agitation is not illegal.
They declared that they will continue with the agitation until their demands are fulfilled.
