Imphal, November 02:
The KYKL has imposed a ban on Mela asserting that these Melas have become a bed rock of immorality, obscenity and drug abuse.
In a statement released by the Deputy Secretary Publicity & Research of KYKL, Apabi Mangang, the outfit remarked that such Melas help in a big way in the larger strategy of the Govt of India to corrupt the people of the State morally, economically and politically.
It also alleged that today's Melas have become a den of gambling and immoral activities.
Even though Clubs/Orgns/Assns organise Melas for fund drive, the lion's share of the profit (90 pc) goes to the nonManipuri participants of these Melas.
The Statement maintained that it has been an accepted fact that clubs/ assns need money to function but it called for introspection if the means of fund drive become injurious to the overall health of the State.
Taking into account of the enormous harm caused by these Melas, KYKL has banned Melas and those currently going on are intimated to shut down within five days.
