Imphal, December 23 2009:
The question of bringing back students to the classrooms or not lies with the Government not with the Apunba Lup, AMSU, MSF and KSA, said Gyaneshwari of the Apunba Lup.
She was speaking by the sideline of a function held to mark completion of five months since Rabina and Sanjit were shot dead.
Family members and others paid floral tributes to the photographs of Rabina and Sanjit at the spots where they were killed at Khwairamband Bazar on July 23 .
Similar function of paying floral tributes to the two victims was also held at Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, the native place of Ch Sanjit, where a public meeting was also organised.
Addressing the meeting, Gyaneshwari asserted that the Government should be held responsible for depriving education to students since September 9 in connection with the July 23 Khwairamband killings.
Enabling students to attend classes or not should be decided by the Government, not by the Apunba Lup or the three student bodies, she said.
Terming it unfortunate the alleged viewing of the Apunba Lup and the three student bodies in the wrong light by parents/guardians regarding their movement to secure right to life of the people of Manipur and enable students learn under a tranquil atmosphere, Gyaneshwari declared that the Apunba Lup would never retrace its movement until the demands for resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi, punishment of guilty police commandos and ensuring right to life of the people of Manipur are fulfilled.
She also ruled out any more negotiation with the Government.
Another Apunba Lup member, Leirik observed that depriving education to students was most unfortunate.

To enable students attend class, it's time parents and guardians launch a strong movement against the Government.
She alleged that the Government was forfeiting the right to education of the students of Manipur.
Memcha who is also a member of the Apunba Lup asserted that the movement for securing right to life is justified because right to education can have its meaning only when there is right to life.
Joint secretary of the Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi RK Landhoni observed that the Government has imprisoned many aged Meira Paibi leaders for taking part in democratic protest movements demanding right to life.
On the other hand, the Government is yet to punish guilty police commandos, she decried.
Manipur Keithel Phambi Nupi Lup president Mema noted that the people of Manipur seemed to forget their right to life at times.
But no issue can be bigger than the issue resulting from forfeiting right to life.
To end the issue with the people standing on the victorious side, all the people need come together and launch a united movement, she said.
Pointing that the 60 MLAs were not elected to kill people but to safeguard lives and properties of the people, Mema asserted that MLAs should resign if they cannot safeguard the lives and properties of people.
