The Governor of Manipur, Ved Marwah, appealed to the people of Manipur to maintain communal harmony and peace in the state and assured that his government would provide absolute security to all sections of the people.
The appeal was made today during the second meeting of the committee for maintaining communal harmony held at the Raj Bhavan this afternoon.
The Governor said he would under no circumstance act against the wishes or the interest of the people and said he is confident that the interest of Manipur will remain intact and the present crisis will end on an amicable note.
He said he will be going to New Delhi shortly to apprise the Central leaders of the situation in the state and said he is positive the Centre�s decision will be positive.
The Governor also assured the people of Manipur that the government would not allow any force to divide the people of Manipur in any circumstance, and appealed to the members of the committee to convey the message to the people.
The Governor also requested the members to take up measures to instill confidence in the people to return to their respective homes soon.
The Governor appealed to the people to remain calm and patient at least for the next one week until the Centre has a chance to keep its promise of reviewing the Bangkok agreement of June 14, with the NSCN (IM).
The tragedy is that the people are fighting an administration that stands for them, he said.
During the discussions, the question of setting up a crisis as well as media management cell was brought up and it was generally agreed that this was one of the need of the hour.
