Security measures enhanced : Home Minister Gaikhangam

In view of the exodus of North East students and professionals from different cities of mainland India followed by the killing of students by throwing them out from a moving train, one of whom was a native of Manipur, security measures have been enhanced in the State, stated Home Minister Gaikhangam.
Given the sensitive nature of the issue, the State Government has directed all security forces to stay alert.
Speaking to media persons at his office today, Gaikhangam assured that the State Government would extend all possible assistance to the family to late Sharif Ahmad.
To tackle such a sensitive issue, the State Government needs unstinted cooperation from all sections of the society, stated Gaikhangam while appealing to the public for cooperation.
In the meantime, prohibitory orders have been clamped in all areas of Thoubal district under Section 144 of CrPC.
On the other hand, three persons were arrested by Bangalore Police for assaulting a couple hailing from Churachandpur district at Jalahi area of Bangalore.
Of the three arrested persons, two are Muslims from Assam while the third one is a local.
