Imphal, October 20:
Contrary to earlier perceptions that the recruitment drive being conducted for raising the third IRB battalion would be clean during the President Rule regime, aspersions on the process of recruitment have been cast from many quarters.
According to well placed intelligence sources already 72 hopeful aspirants have come from distant Haryana for the recruitment drive.
The aspirants were brought here under the charge of one Surinder Sharma.
Sources further said the aspirants from Haryana participated in the physical test.
The aspirants however do not have domicile certificates.
The Haryanis were brought here on the assurance that a total of 240 seats are reserved for people from outside the state.
Sources said an amount of Rs 70 to 80 thousand were taken from each of the 72 Haryanis by the agent who brought them here.
Intelligence sources said the 72 aspirants from Haryana were brought here after due permission was given by an IGP and a DIG of the State police force.
Other than riflemen, recruitment drive is also being held for Havildars.
Over four thousand candidates turned up for the 40 posts of Havildars.
Two women, well known in political circles tired to influence the outcome of the physical test by contacting the officials conducting the test, the sources added.
