United Committee Manipur (UCM) today rejected the claim that several persons left the state following the NSCN (IM) ceasefire extension episode.
It also announced forming of new committees and cells for strengthening the organizations and said steps will be taken up to check the irregularities in government offices in the hills.
Rejecting the claim of the Amsterdam based Naga International Support Centre that around 40,000 people from the valley left homes during the conflagration, UCM functionaries including convener S Jadumani charged that the organization made up the allegations to international aids.
Stating that no persons except those wanting benefits left the state, they said that using the term �internally displaced persons� for them is a misnomer.
Maintaining the government should find out the true picture on the issue, the UCM leaders said unwanted incidents might occur if the matter is continued to be kept in the dark.
Admitting that some persons for a short period due to �instigations� they added that they have returned home and have settled peacefully after finding out the facts.
The UCM leaders also announced the formation of three subordinate bodies namely steering committee, constitution drafting committee, legal cell, documentation cell and Kekrupat design cell.
