The birth anniversary of Swany Vivekananda was observed today at Marawari DharmasIala organized by the Bharat Vikas Parishad.
The President of the Parishad H Nandakumar Sharma today said in a press note that the members of the Parishad paid floral tributes to the portrait of Swamy Vivekananda.
On the occasion the Parishad organized a measurement camp for providing free artificial legs and calipers to the handicapped persons.
More than 60 persons came in the said camp.
Noted orthopaedic surgeon Dr I Ibomcha Singh supervised the measurement camp.
The artificial legs and calipers will be distributed at a function of the Parishad which shall be organized soon he said.
The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was today celebrated by the Ramkrishna mission here at Malda by organizing several cultural programmes.
In the morning, about 4,000 students of different schools brought out a 'Prabhat Pheri' (morning procession with dance and songs) from the Vrindabani field here to the statue of Vivekananda in the town.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the mission, Swami Dibyananda said the birthday of Swami Vivekananda was held as 'National youth day' and asked the students to live up to the expectations of Vivekananda.
The mission along with the local St Johns ambulance also organized a blood donation camp where one hundred people donated blood.
