Imphal, July 05:
The Manipur state councils of the All India Students' Federation and the All India Youth Federation, the All Manipur Nupi Marup and the Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup have extended full and active support to the 13hour bandh tomorrow on national highway no.39 (Indo-Myanmar road) at Moreh called by the Kuki Students' Organization protesting the extension of cease-fire to Manipur.
The organizations, on the other hand, took exception to the decision of the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) to boycott the visits of MPs in the state.
The organizations suggested that meeting with the MPs, with reference to the six Left party MPs who are visiting Imphal on July 7, will provide an opportunity to impress upon them the strong views and aspirations of the people so that the issues are mooted in the forthcoming session of the Parliament and pressure is exerted on the government.
Meanwhile, the Voluntary Organization for Manipur Territorial Integrity Top Moirangkampu, the Progressive Youth Forum, Churachandpur, and the Economic Development Research Group have strongly demanded the withdrawal of the cease-fire from Manipur.
The Sayang Kuraomakhong Women's Development Committee has expressed condolence on the death of 14 protestors.
