Kakching, June 05 2021:
Social worker Yengkhom Nilachandra has appealed all concerned to ensure Ration Card (AAY, NFSA etc) holders their due share of rice allotted under PMGKAY and called for an alternative ration scheme for those who have not been covered under existing schemes in wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
Speaking to media persons, Nilachandra who is also a member of the Block Congress Committee Kakching expressed anguished over reports of non distribution of allotted quota pf rice to beneficiaries of NFSA and AAY within Kakching AC.
Nilachandra lauded the Prime Minister for introducing PMGKAY scheme as a relief measure amidst the Covid crisis but expressed strong disappointment over the distribution of rice under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).
Instead of delivering 5 kg of rice (per head) under NFSA and an additional 5 kg of rice (per head free of cost under PMGKAY) to the beneficiaries, FPS agents in Kakching AC are distributing 3 kg per head to card holder and non card holders despite repeated clarifications from CAF&PD to distiibute 5 kg of rice per head thereby creating a confusion about the share and the quantity allotted for distribution, he said.
While appealing to ensure 5 kg rice per head to all eligible beneficiaries, he urged concerned authorities to ensure the same facility to non card holders and others whose Aadhar Cards are yet to be seeded or registered for availing ration scheme considering the pandemic situation.
Lauding the sanitary and philanthropic activities carried out by various voluntary groups and fronts of Kakching to help fight Covid and reduce the hardships caused by the restrictions on movements, he also appealed all to follow Covid appropriate behaviours to curb the spread of the virus.
