Imphal, June 08 2021:
The charges levelled by Y Irabot, MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency regarding the embezzlement of funds for upgradation of Anganwadi centres in the constituency against former minister Okram Henry were refuted by his PRO Boyesh Kom and contractors involved in the upgradation works today.
Refuting the charges through a video release, Boyesh Kom alleged that Y Irabot was to trying to take political benefits without doing any proper ground work regarding the matter.
For Wanghei A/C, the provision for building 12 new Anganwadi Centres are being enlisted in the program and the funds for the first phase have been deposited to DRDA Imphal East which is under the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East and the funds have not been released yet, he continued.
Stating that the claims made by Y Irabot are baseless that the funds for building new Anganwadi centres in other constituencies must have been misused, Boyesh Kom said that every constituency has a committee headed by the MLAs of the respective constituency as the chairman which looks after such works.
Talking about the claims made by Y Irabot regarding the embezzlement Rs 20 lakhs for repairing of 10 Anganwadi Centres in Wangkhei A/C, he said that under the program, only 8 Anganwadi centres were included.
The repairing work are on hold due to the ongoing pandemic and will continue once the situation improves and some funds have been released from the TP Cell and are given to the contractors, he added.
Further Boyesh Kom said that one should focus on effective management of COVID-19 pandemic instead of making baseless charges through media which will be never ending.
