Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA K Leishiyo has announced that one oxygen plant will come up at Kamjong shortly.
The MLA made the statement after handing over 100 B-type oxygen cylinders (15kg), 1 D-type oxygen cylinder (50kg) to Primary Health Centre at Kasom Khullen.
K Leishiyo, who is also the chairman of the Hill Area Committee, claimed that the people of Kamjong face untold inconvenience during this pandemic due to the inadequacy of health infrastructure in the district.
Saying that the Government has advised the MLAs to manage the Covid affairs of their respective Constituencies themselves, K Leishiyo contended that people of Kamjong are hit hard by the Covid as all the facilities are at Ukhrul district.
On requesting facilities, only old ambulances and vehicles were given to Kamjong, he said and added that he had repaired about old vehicles from his pocket.
He then questioned if repairing department vehicles is also the responsibility of the MLA.
Continuing that 10 Covid positive patients are currently lodged at Kasom Khullen Primary Health Centre while Kamjong has none, the MLA continued that there is a shortage of medial staff in the district.
Covid positive patients from two villages are also lodged at a CHIC in Phungyar AC, he added.
He continued that only 9 doctors are currently available at the district out of 36 sanctioned.
Kamjong, being a new district, is facing a lot of shortage in term of health facilities and infrastructure, he said and asserted that distributing just 5-6 D-type oxygen cylinders is not enough to tackle the pandemic.
Appealing to the people of Kamjong to take requite precautionary measures to avoid Covid infections, the MLA added that no people of Kamjong will be left untreated if tested positive.
