Villagers demand completion of Keibung bridge

Keibung villagers and local clubs have appealed to the government to resume the construction of Keibung bailey bridge and repair the suspension bridge currently being used by the villagers.
Addressing a press meet near the suspension bridge on Saturday, Unique Youth Development Association, Keibung Wangma Mathak general secretary Phundre-imayum Wahidur Rahaman stated that after they made a request for a bailey bride, works minister Govindas Konthoujam and local MLA Abdul Nasir visited the site and included it in the work programme of the government.
While recounting that construction of the bailey bridge stopped midway citing onset of rainy season and the outbreak of ethnic violence in the state, he said that the suspension bridge over the Thoubal river, which, connects Keibung Wangma and Leishangth em Kelimakhong is no more safe for use after it got damaged.
The bridge used to be the lifeline for villagers of Khekman, Keibung, Nungei.
and Leishangthem but due to its dilapidated condition they are facing problems in commuting, he maintained and urged the authority concerned to resume construction for early completion of the bailey bridge.
