Local bodies against late night opening of park

Functionaries of clubs, organisations and Meira Paibi of six villages located nearby Sangaithel Park in Imphal West district held a joint meeting on Wednesday and discussed about the ill-effect of evening programmes conducted at the park.
Representatives of clubs and women organisations of Sangaithel, Khoken, Thangjing Chiru, Thuijang, Saheibung ad Longa Koireng attended the joint meeting and resolved to endorse decision taken by SSTKCL Joint Committee, the apex body of six villages located nearby Sangaithel Park.
In view of numerous problems created in and around the six villages due to conduct of entertainment programmes at Sangaithel Park till late night, the joint committee appealed to the park authority to restrict opening of the park from 9am to 5.30pm in summer and from 9am to 4.30 pm in winter.
In case of state level programmes conducted once in a year like those related with Sangai festival, the timing could be discussed between park authorities and the committee, the joint committee said and also urged DC Imphal West not to issue permit for holding entertainment programmes at the park beyond the time limit set by the committee.
The committee also warned of taking strong action if park authorities fail to comply With the timing fixed by the committee.
