One day awareness campaign held at Dailong village

Tamenglong, May 26 2022:
A one day awareness program for biodiversity conservation was held in Dailong village today under the aegis of Manipur Biodiversity Board, Sanjenthong Imphal, Government of Manipur.
The program was organised by the DFO, Tamenglong in association with Dailong Village Authority.
Praveen Kumar Nigam IFS, DFO Tamenglong attended as chief guest, while president of Dailong Ecology and Environment Preservation Society (DEEPS), PR Guisinang and chairman of Dailong village Kijinbui Gonmei attended as guest of honour and president of the function.
Kachintou, secretary, Dailong Biodiversity Management Committee, Kh Hitler Singh, Range Forest Officer, Joel Gangmei RFO, Tamenglong also attended the program as resource persons.
The chief guest of the program requested the gathering to support the forest department so that the forest officials can work at the best level in protecting the forest in Tamenglong district.
He also requested the people gathered to support the plantation of saplings in the upcoming Vanamahotsav program.
He further assured the villagers to give all possible support from the department to uplift the village.
It is worth noting that Dailong village was declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site in 2017 .
Manipur Biodiversity Board, (MBB) Dailong has provided financial assistance since then for management and protection of the site every year.
All the speakers who attended the program congratulated the village for their positive roles and sacrifices for the protection of this site.
About eighty village elders, women members and village youth attended the program.
