Three held with Sandalwood, heroin

Imphal, May 26 2022:
A team of Bishnupur district police commando arrested one Md Hussain Ahmed Chaudhury (31), son of Haji Rahmatulah Chaudhury of Kwakta bazar with 160kg of illegal Sandalwood on Thursday.
According to a police report, the commando team stopped a red colour A-star car (HR 26 AV-7357) for checking near Ngangkha Lawai petrol pump, at about 8.30 am and 160kg of Sandalwood was found inside the car driven by Hussain, who has been handed over to district forest office for necessary action.
Meanwhile, a team of Bishnupur PS led by OC K Dineshkumar arrested one Salam Joykumar (35), son of Maimu of Wangoo Naodakhong Awang Leikai and recovered three stolen Honda Activa scooters from different parts of Wangoo on Thursday.
The arrest and recovery of stolen two-wheelers were made as part of the investigation into an FIR registered by the police station.
In another development, a combined team of Imphal East district police commando and Heingang PS arrested two men with 2.288 kg of heroin.
The arrested men have been identified as Abhinash Oli (30), son of Pashuram Oli of Mantripukhri Devi Lane, and Sagar Sharma (18), son of Deepak Sharma of Kanglatongbi Durga Mandir but presently residing at Vakho bazar, Senapati.
According to a police report, the combined team stopped a truck at Mantripukhri Khabam Lamkhai area on May 25 at about 1.20 pm and found 176 soap cases containing 2.288 kg of heroin.
Initial questioning of the arrested duo led to the disclosure that the soap cases containing heroin, which were found concealed inside spare tyre, were uploaded from T Khullen, Senapati in consultation with one Raju Thapa (40) of Karong bazar, Senapati.
Both the arrested men along with the drug have been handed over to Heingang PS for further necessary action.
