ATU backs anti-drug campaign

Imphal, May 26 2022:
Endorsing the 'war on drugs' mission of the state government, Aimol Tribe Union (ATU) informed that a joint meeting resolved that Aimol as well as non-Aimol communities settling in Aimol area would neither indulge in nor allow poppy cultivation in areas under their their respective jurisdiction.
In a release, ATU president S Munthuireng said that the joint meeting of the union, Aimol Students' Union and Aimol Numeiwar along with chiefs of nine Aimol villages was held on May 26 .
The ATU president cautioned of initiating punitive measures according to the customary laws if poppy cultivation is detected.
