Court declines bail for Mark Haokip

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West issued non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mark Thangmang Haokip in connection with an application filed by Imphal police station.
The application was filed by the Officer in-Charge of Imphal police station for issuance of non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mark Thangmang Haokip (39), s/o Limkhosei Haokip of Molnom village, Churachandpur stating that he (Mark Thangmang Haokip) wrote derogatory and defamatory statements on social media both on his Twitter and Facebook accounts against freedom fighter Padma Bhushan awardee Rani Gaidinliu on November 23, 2021 .
The application mentioned that leaders of ten civil society organisations of Manipur lodged a complaint before the OC of Imphal police station stating that such derogatory and defamatory statements by Mark Thangmang Haokip had hurt the sentiments of many people and might disturb communal harmony.
It also mentioned that many attempts have been made to cause the arrest of Mark Thangmang Haokip.
However, each time Mark Thangmang Haokip managed to evade the law.
Citing intelligence reports, it was further stated that Mark Thangmang Haokip was said to be seen at Delhi and thus prayed for issuance of non-bailable warrant to cause arrest of Mark Thangmang Haokip.
The Court, after hearing the State's APP and on perusing the petition, found satisfactory grounds to issue a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mark Thangmang Haokip.
After issuing a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mark Thangmang Haokip, the Court directed police to produce him before the same Court on or before June 20 .
