FDP on Agri-Business organised

A six-day faculty development programme on Agri-Business and BioEntrepreneurship was organised jointly by Research and Development Cell, MU Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), MU and Central Agricultural University at the court hall of MU, Canchipur on Tuesday.
Speaking as the chief guest, MU VC Prof N Lokendra informed that the programme was organised as part of the MoU signed between CAU and MU.
He continued that while students of MIMS and Department of Vocational Education, MU to get exposure and learn new things, CAU also has varied experts and equipment related to food processing technology.
Thus, he stressed the need for increasing the inter-institutional collaboration between higher educational institutions and private universities so to not only improve the skills but further increase the existing knowledge.
The VC stated that the inter-institutional collaboration will not only enhance cooperation between the institutions but also enable students to further continue their research without incurring too many expenses.
Additionally, MU and CSIR can ink MoU to allow students of MU access to the bio-agri and research equipment at CSIR Lamphelpat.
The latter can also utilise the laboratories of MU to further related researches, he conveyed.
Prof Lokendro then urged experts from the various state and private universities in the state to cooperate with one another to provide concerted training cum academic growth to the students.
Presided over by Research and Development Cell, MU director Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, the programme was attended by College of Agriculture, CAU dean Prof Indira Sarangthem; CSIR-NEIST chief scientist Prof H Birkumar; CAU Instructions & PI, IDP director Prof S Basanta and MIMS, MU director Prof L Prabhakar as guests of honour.
