New Rienta villagers long for eco-tourism site

Considering the natural beauty of New Rienta village in Tamenglong, which is blessed with lush forests, lakes and waterfall with varied flora and fauna, the villagers are longing for the government to set up eco-tourism site in the village.
New Rienta, also known as New Lemta in Tamei sub-division headquarters, is a three hours' drive from Imphal and about 80 km from Senapati town.
The village is inhabited by the Liangmai Naga tribes.
At around 800 feet, the Abba Phentung waterfall near New Rienta village one of the highest waterfalls in Manipur.
The village is filled with various wildlife and endangered species, making the place a perfect eco-tourism site.
In addition the waterfall, the village also has a lake named Chahojai which is home to various endangered wildlife species.
Considering the presence of forest, lakes and waterfall with various endangered wildlife species, the villagers are looking forward to the government to develop eco-tourism site in the village.
The village has a government school established in 1987 but has students for only two classes and without boundary fencing.
The villagers said that the dense forest in the village is home to various wild animals and birds including elephants and tigers.
However, the villagers only hunt Mithun.
