Two IEDs found, safely detonated

Amid high security measures taken up for the Republic Day celebration , two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered from Okshongbung and Kangvai, Bishnupur District.
The 6 Assam Rifles detected an IED at 6 am at Okshongbung which was buried 3 feet under the ground.
It weighed around 6 kilogram.
The first Improvised Explosive Device was detonated by the Army Bomb disposal team at Okshangbung at about 11 am Metal shrapnel were used to cause maximum casualty, said a press release issued by the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S).
Again at around 6.30 am, another IED of 2 kilogram was found under a culvert which connects Jorbung and Kangvai by 1/11 Gorkha Rifles.
The second IED was detonated near Kangvai, about half an hour later.
Bomb experts retrieved the second IED too thereby averting possible large scale casualties.
Traffic along Kangvai to Torbung area was diverted through an alternate route while in the case of Okshangbung traffic was stopped for some time as there was no alternative route to take.
No UG group has claimed responsibility for planting the IEDs so far.
