Sanjit, Rabina remembered

Observance of two-minute silence and offering of floral tribute to the portraits of Thokchom Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit marked the third death anniversary of Th Rabina and Ch Sanjit at Lamshang Community Hall, Lamshang in Imphal West district under the aegis of JAC Against The Brutal Killing of Rabina and Ch Sanjit.
Addressing the gathering, member of the Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL), Ahanthem Shilla said that the duo was killed in a reported fake encounter on June 23, 2009 in broad daylight at the heart of Imphal, a few distance away from the then Assembly Hall where the session of the House was in progress.
A few days later, Tehelka magazine had exposed the fake encounter through a photographs that closely followed the sequences of the incident.
Following the exposure, intense public agitation was launched against the Government where the leaders who spearheaded the agitation were booked under NSA.

The CBI had chargesheeted nine police personnel including to Inspectors.
The case has been pending still.
Expressing optimism that the Government and the CBI would bring justice to the case, WCAL member, Ahanthem Shilla affirmed that agitation would be launched if the Government fails to bring justice to the incident.
On the pending CBI's enquiry into the case, UCM President, Y Nabachandra said that it is pertinent to ask the validity of the case taken up by CBI on the matter.
He further urged all concerned to cooperate in delivering justice to the incident.
President of AMUCO, KT Rehman pointed out that the mistake of the Government lies in the fact that the suspended police personnel are back on duty while urging all concerned to remain alert over the matter.
