V&AH Department launches nine mobile clinics

Aimed at providing prompt emergency health care amenities to the animals the State Veterinary and Animal Husbandry De-partment officially launched mobile clinics with the distribu-tion of Tata Sumo ambulatory vehicles to all the nine districts.
The mobile clinic launch ceremony was held today at the Sanjenthong office complex of V&AH Department with Director (Vety) Saido-khum Joute and director (Agriculture) G Shamu Kabui jointly flagging off the ambulatory vehicles.
While Shamu Kabui expressed elation that launch of the mobile clinics would facilitate prompt rescue and treatment initiatives by veterinarian at remote and distant locations, especially in the hill areas, Saidokhum Joute called upon the district officials for purposeful utilisation of the vehicles.
The latter also informed that the Department procured the nine Tata Sumo Ambulatory Vehicles for use as mo- bile veterinary clinics in order to provide door to door step veterinary aids to the farmers and animal lovers especially in the remote and interior areas of the State.

The vehicles were procured under Animal Health Coverage Programme with the financial outlay of Rs 63,87,484 during the year 2012-13, said the Director (Vety) detailing that out of the nine vehicles, four are 4x2 BS III AW model for Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts with the remaining five of 4x4 BS III AW model meant for utilisation in the hill districts of Churachandpur, Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel districts.
further highlighting that the mobile clinics are equip-ped with standard accessories such as stretchers, wash basins, first aid boxes, medical kit, floor carpet, mud flat, towel and other veterinary appliances for control of animal diseases, he stated that availability of the ambulatory vehicles at the disposal of the district officials will enable them to carry out fertility and aids camp, mass vaccination programme and extend door to door treatment facility to the farmers, especially in the remote and interior areas.
Stating that the department is committed to establishing more animal care facilities/centres equipped with requisite machinery under the ESVHD Scheme of the Department under the objective of enhancing milk, egg and meat production in Manipur, the Director also expressed confidence that Government of Manipur will continue to extend all possible assistance in the Department's endeavour to provide standard health care amenities of the animals.
