Imphal, September 18:
Former Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh, who is the State unit president of the Rashtriya janata Dal (RJD) and party MLA Md Hellaluddin Khan have been respectively appointed as the National vice president and National secretary of the political organisation.
Conveying the development to mediapersons at the Babupara office of the RJD State unit today, Nipamacha said induction of Hellaluddin and himself in the National set up of the party was effected at the recently held RJD plenary session in Sarnath.
Recounting the origin of the RJD in Manipur in 2005, Nipamacha asserted that despite the State unit of RJD being still in its formative years, the organisational strength and activities are far superior compared to RJD units in the North East region.
With the National leaders keen to expand RJD in the region and endorsing capacity of the State unit to promote the political organisation in the North Eastern region he and Hellaluddin had been inducted to the party's national level, opined Nipamacha.
Joining in the media briefing, Hellaluddin announced that the RJD State unit will field candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and if successful Ministerial post in the Centre is guaranteed.
Referring to RJD's active part in UPA coalition and outside support to the SPF Government in the State, the national secretary nevertheless slammed Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh for not accommodating RJD MLAs in the SPF Council of Ministers.
He, nevertheless affirmed that RJD would continue to support SPF Government inspite of being denied a ministerial portfolio.
Supplementing Hellaluddin's assertion, W Nipamacha insisted that claiming ministerial post is not a crime nor a matter to be ashamed of as RJD deserves at least one Ministerial post.
Regarding DAN Government's recent decision to allow affiliation of schools of other States to the NBSE, the RJD leader said his party is opposed to such a move but left it to the SPF Government to deal the matter in the right earnest.
In case pursuit of certain organisations to integrate Naga inhabited areas materialise similar move to club together Meitei inhabited areas of Bangladesh, Assam and Myanmar into a single entity is also justifiable, he observed.
No one will protest if individuals pursuing Naga unification movement leave Manipur, the former CM said.
