National workshop, virtual discussion held

Imphal, June 05 2021:
Directorate of Environment and Climate Change in association with International Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of NG College, Imphal organised a one- day national level workshop on 'Ecosystem Restoration' in relation with the observance of World Environment Day on Saturday.
NG College principal L Manglemba, vice principal Ashok RC and NG College Teachers' Association president L Benjamin Kom attended the virtual workshop as chief guest, president and guest of honour.
Around 128 delegates from different colleges and universities in and outside the state participated in the workshop, which had ENVIS Hub, directorate of environment and climate change Manipur coordinator Dr L Bijen Meitei and DM College of Sciences, head of environmental sciences department Dr K Manibhusan speaking as resource persons.
On the other hand, Green Foundation and Radio Loktak, Uchiwa organised a virtual training cum panel discussion on 'Strategic Action Plan for Ecosystem Restoration at the Farmers' Level' on Saturday.
Retired chief conservator of forest Th Mahendra Pratap spoke on 'Biodiversity and Farmers', directorate of environment & climate change joint director Dr Tourangbam Brajakumar spoke on 'Ecosystem Restoration: Roles and Responsibilities of Farmers', and ICAR soil scientist Dr T Basanta spoke on 'Soil Health Management for Organic Farming'.
Speaking at the event, Green Foundation CEO Urikkhinbam Himmat informed that the foundation will lay out a road map for environment conservation for farmers and other stakeholders for the year ahead till the next World Environment Day observance.
Next year, it will dissect the reasons for success and failure of achieving the target set in the road map, he added.
