National Integration Tour Flagged In

Imphal, January 24 2014 :
A National Integration Tour, which was conducted by 6/8 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade was flagged in on 22 Jan 2014 in a welcoming ceremony by Maj Gen PM Bali, GOC, Red Shield Division at Leimakhong.
The NIT team comprised of 19 school students of Khoupum Valley alongwith 04 teachers.
During the 16 day tour, the children visited large number of places in Kolkotta & Hyderabad, which included Den Garden, Botanical Garden, Babu Ghat, Palk Street, Zoo, Victoria Memorial, Science City, Nicco Park, Fort William, Howrah Bridge, Esplanade Bridge in Kolkotta and Metro Station, Salarjung Museum, Golconda Fort, Ramoji Film City, Jalvihar, Snow World, Lumbini Park, Hussainsagar Lake and Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, GOC welcomed the children whom he called as �Ambassadors� of Manipur� .
He expressed hope that the children would have imbibed the spirit of the vast and diverse culture of our Country.
He urged the children to strive hard for the development, peace and prosperity for the state of Manipur and make it a place of pride in the hearts and minds of every Indian.
The parents of the students also attended the ceremony and were very happy and thankful to the Army for providing this opportunity to their children.
