Thoubal River Conservation Committee warns stir

Thoubal, April 08 2018:
The Thoubal River Conservation Committee has asserted that Thouibal river has started getting polluted and muddy although the river flowed clear for a short period of time.
A press release issued by convenor of the committee stated that the State Government through Under Secretary, Forest and Environment had issued an order, on February 14, to all the respective DCs, SPs prohibiting excavation works using heavy machinery and any actions polluting Thoubal river should be registered and necessary action to be taken up by the respective police station.
The committee stated that the district administration along with the law enforcing agency only engaged in submitting a few reports but no solid action were taken up on the issue.
The river which has started getting muddy again and it has caused numerous inconveniences to the local people, it added The negligence of the district administration and law enforcing agency has started diminishing the image and reputation of the State Government, the committee claimed.
It warned that the Thoubal River Conservation Committee along with the locals will launch stringent agitation if the authorities concerned fail to take up a noticeable action by April 12 .
