Rape accused remanded to judicial custody till April 21

Imphal, April 08 2018:
The 25 years old school van driver accused of raping a minor girl was produced before the Special Court POCSO Imphal West and remanded to judicial custody till April 21, YESTERDAY .
The accused individual, Irom Rakesh alias Naoba (25) s/o Irom Bira of Lamboikhongnangkhong Mamang Leikai, was produced before the Special Court POCSO Imphal West after completion of four days police remand, by a team of Women PS along with a prayer for judicial custody remand.
The IO of the case prayed for judicial custody remand of the accused for further investigation of the case.
On the other hand, the counsel of the accused filed a remand objection and bail application in connection with the case.
After going through the case record and hearing the submission of the APP and the defense counsel, the Court remanded accused Irom Rakesh to judicial custody till April 21 .
It may be mentioned that on April 3, at around 11.30 am, the mother of the victim girl lodged a written complaint to OC Imphal West Women PS stating that the previous day, the accused Irom Rakesh alias Naoba after taking her victim daughter from her school committed aggravated sexual assault inside his van.
On examination of the victim girl, she stated that she was dropped to her school by her father in the morning and after the school was over, she was picked up by the accused van driver and she was made to sit in the front of the van which had four other students in the back seat.
After dropping the students at their respective home, the accused asked the victim to sit nearer to him and committed the crime.
