A public meeting deliberating on the progress of development in Ningthoukhong was held at a public park in Ningthoukhong bazar today.
Organised by Integrated Forum of Organisations Ningthoukhong (IFON), under the aegis of Ningthoukhong Municipal Council, the meeting was attended by Chairperson of the Council, K Mani Singh, Councillors and Members, village elders, Public Development Committee Ningthoukhong president Th Ibomcha as presidium members.
Representatives of Clubs, organisations, associations and Meira Paibis in Ningthoukhong were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed about establishment of Ningthoukhong Bazar Committee and its present administration, encroachment of public areas, rivers, schools, roads and bridges under Ningthoukhong in which the locals, representatives gave their options and suggestions for improvement.
According to IFON convenor, L Krishnachandra Singh, the meeting adopted several resolutions including inspection of rivers flowing under Ningthoukhong and cleaning of the riverbeds before monsoon.
To conduct inspection drives at educational institutes and to evict encroachers of public areas.
It also resolved to take up initiatives to save the affected forest lands and paddy fields caused by NHPC projects.
The meeting decided to submit a memorandum including the resolutions to the authority concerned to take up necessary steps at the earliest for the welfare and development of Ningthoukhong.
