Conference on deported war heroes begins

A four-day Hybrid National Conference cum Workshop on 'Unsung War Heroes Deported to Kalapani', organised by Department of Human Rights of S Kula Women's College, Nambol in collaboration with Clubside Tours & Travels, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands began at Mount Manipur, Andaman & Nicobar Islands on December 9 with Manipur University vice chancellor professor Naorem Lokendra attending the programme virtually as chief guest and Indira Gandhi Tribal University Dr Shukhdev Sharma Hanjabam delivering the keynote speech.
Sunday's session was attended by Dhanamanjuri University School of Social Sciences dean professor RK Tamphasana as chief guest and S Kula Women's College principal Dr W Robindro Singh as president, while Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University's Department of Political Science former head professor Shashi Kant Pandey; Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata CSDDR director professor Biswanath Chakraborty; S Kula Women's College Research & Development Cell director Dr Laitonjam Muhindro; and University of Burdwan professor Anil Kumar Biswas were present as guests of honour.
During the session, resource persons from various states read out papers and facilitated discussion with the participants.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands principal chief conservator of forests TS Ashok Kumar also attended the programme and handed over Salai Taret stole and Conference's compendium to forest officials to be kept at the location for visitors.
The programme is being sponsored jointly by ICSSR, New Delhi and Directorate of University & Higher Education, Manipur.
