MLA Rameshwar assures better road to Kwatha villagers

State Planning Board deputy chairman and Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei on Monday visited Kwatha village located near the Indo-Myanmar border and distributed various items.
The MLA handed over 50 bags of rice, five bags of potato, edibles, Covid testing kits, face masks, hand sanitizers, vitamins and other medicines to the villagers of Kwatha Khunjao and Kwatha Khunou.
Speaking to the villagers, Rameshwar informed that the items were distributed under the aegis of chief minister N Biren considering that substantial number of Kwatha villagers have contracted Covid-19 and the problems faced by them in view of the statewide curfew.
The MLA also assured the villagers of consulting with the chief minister for better road connectivity between Kwatha Khunjao and Kwatha Khunou.
Presently, blacktopping is being carried out along stretches of the 5.9 km road connecting Kwatha Khunjao to NH 2 (Imphal-Moreh road) under PMGSY.
The work will be done without any compromise on quality, he added.
Rameshwar also assured to construct shed of Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi shrine after conferring with the CM as demanded by the villagers and approach authorities concerned to fill up the vacant posts of teachers of Kwatha High School and other requirements of PHC Kwatha.
Kwatha Village Authority chairman Angom Amu conveyed that 30 Covid-19 patients in the village have recovered recently while there are 10 more infected villagers.
They are facing problems in taking the patients to the hospitals as the village is situated in interior hilly parts of the state.
Kwatha Village Authority secretary Takhelambam Sanjoy stated that the government must maintain quality control in construction of roads connecting the village.
The present condition of the road is pathetic and they have to walk for two hours to get anywhere, he informed and demanded that government construct a guest house and a community hall for the benefit of the villagers.
