Imphal, July 10 2009:
As a part of civil action programme, 86 battalion, CRPF today distributed seven TV sets including disc TV, four computer sets and sports materials to the villagers of Noney in Tamenglong district.
The materials were handed over to the villagers in a function organized at Longmai Peace land Community Hall with IGP, CRPF Manipur Range, MS Raghav as chief guest.
Commandant of the 86 battalion SN Sen Gupta, Lieutenant Colonel GS Gill of 26 Assam Rifles, deputy commandant of 86 Bn CRPF, W S Singh and Second in Command, BRTF, Manojkumar attended as guest of honours.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP, CRPF Manipur Range, MS Raghav said CRPF is conducting civic action programme in different parts of the state representing government of India to ease the insurgency problems.
The programme will not give any problem to the traditional life style of the villagers, he added.
He also thanks the villagers of Longmai for not having any record of villagers joining underground and assured that CRPF will continue efforting to maintain good relationship with the villagers there.
