K Michael's solo art exhibition begins

Imphal, July 29 2013:
A two-day solo art exhibition of Konthoujam Michael Meetei, who lost both legs in a bomb blast at Pourabi on December 16, 2007, was inaugurated at Nupi Lal Complex here today.
The inaugural function was attended by Director of Art and Culture Dr K Sobita as Chief Guest and Secretary of State Kala Akademi S Vedashwar Sharma as President, while Principal of Imphal Art College Y Nabachandra attended as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sobita lauded Michael Meetei for his courage and determination to excel in painting despite his disability and against all odds.
She said that persons with normal abilities would not be regarded if they have not done anything significant in their lives.
So, differently abled people should not feel discouraged rather they should move forward to do remarkable things which other normal persons cannot do, the Director exhorted.
Altogether 14 paintings of Michael are on display at the exhibition.Dr Sobita also released a leaflet published by Spastic Society of Manipur during the inaugural function.
