Village security meets held

Ukhrul, February 23 2020:
Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a village security meet at Poi village in Ukhrul district on February 22 .
The meet was attended by village headman, village Pastor, women members of Tangkhul Sangnao Long (TSL) and the locals of Poi village, said PRO, IGAR.
The aim of the meet was to sensitise the locals regarding the current situation, the ongoing protests in Ukhrul and Senapati districts and the necessity of maintaining peace in the area.
The Poi COB Commander urged the locals not to be swayed or affected by the situation and assured that the Assam Rifles are striving their best towards betterment of the people.
The locals were assured that the presence of security forces is conducive to the progress and development of the local populace.
The village headman highlighted the difficulties faced by the people in their day to day lives and requested the help of Assam Rifles for training the village youth for recruitment in the Armed Forces.
The village authorities expressed their gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for helping the locals through various projects and providing timely medical assistance, and assured their cooperation to the security forces with the common cause of maintaining peace and harmony in the area.
The Sehlon Battalion under the aegis of Kakching Sector AR, IGAR (South) organised a security meeting at the bordering villages of Dingpi region yesterday.
In the statement isued by PRO, IGAR, it mentioned that the meeting was attended by villagers of the region and discussed the problems faced by locals due to insurgent activities.
An AR official, in his opening address, highlighted the aim of Assam Rifles which is to integrate the remotest regions on Manipur into the National fabric.
The security meeting ended with a joint feast amongst villagers and personnel of Sehlon Battalion, added the statement.
