Imphal, August 03 2013 :
A meeting of the non-Congress Political parties of the State was held today at the office of Manipur People's Party (MPP) here and discussed various issues of the State with primary focus on the disputed border fencing process along the Indo-Myanmar International boundary at Moreh.
The meeting which started around 3 pm today went on till 6:30 pm.
The meeting minutely discussed the present burning issue of the border fencing; the problems being faced by public due to the landslide along National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road) at Phesema in Nagaland which has stopped all flow of traffic for the last many days and the scarcity of petrol in the State.
The meeting strongly condemned the act of the Central Government in trying to give away a large portion of the land of Manipur to Myanmar through the ongoing process of 'faulty' border fencing process along Indo-Myanmar International boundary.
It also resolved that not an inch of the land of Manipur can be given away to anyone and a memorandum in this regard would be submitted to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister of India, the President of India and the Union Home Minister.
However, the A delegation of non-Congress political parties of the State would also go to meet the Prime Minister in this regard if the need arises.
Furthermore, the meeting took serious note over the hike in prices of essential commodities in the State as a result of the landslide in Nagaland, thus, putting a grinding halt to traffic flow along the National Highway 2 for the last many days.
However, the final draft of the resolutions adopted during the meeting could not be finalized as of now.
