RS Committee on ICTM visits NIELIT

A delegation of Committee on Information and Communication Technology Management (ICTM) in Rajya Sabha headed by MP Tiruchi Siva visited the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Imphal on April 30.The other members of the Committee including MPs Rakesh Sinha, Sujeet Kumar, KR Suresh Reddy and Neeraj Dangi was accompanied by RS joint secretary Pradeep Chaturvedi along with other officials of Rajya Sabha Secretariat and Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) .
In a release, NIELIT Imphal informed that a presentation on the mandate of NIELIT and works being done by the organisation for insemination of IT awareness in the region was presented to the Committee by NIELIT Guwahati director Dr Y Jayanta Singh, and NIELIT Imphal director N Debachandra Singh.
The Committee reviewed activities of NIELIT and its contribution to skilling citizens of the country in the field of information, electronics and communication technology.
It advised NIELIT to focus on holistic approach while providing online training so that all sections of society are equally benefited, it added.
The release mentioned that the Committee also advised NIELIT to expand its digital literacy training programme to remote area of the state such as Kwatha village, to which the NIELIT Imphal director informed that under a sponsored programme of MeitY, awareness programme for women, elderly people, school students and farmers will be conducted in remote areas of the state such as Kwatha village at the earliest.
The Committee also suggested NIELIT Imphal to track its former students who have already got placement in various government and non government organisations, so that they could be ambassadors for enhancing placement of NIELIT students.
Further, the Committee asked NIELIT Imphal to submit details of students with contact numbers from urban area, rural area, SC/ST community for assessment of quantum benefits of NIELIT courses, it further conveyed.
