Expressing its concern over the serial killings and sexual harassments of the innocent indigenous women and men from the North East India, Zomi Human Rights Foundation (ZHRF) has demanded that the law enforcement agency must bring the culprits of such heinous crimes before the laws of the land at the earliest.
In a press statement issued by Information and Publicity Department of ZHRF General Headquarters, the Foundation urged the Scheduled Tribes Commission to investigate into the matter and address the issues for protection of the north eastern people.
Referring to media reports appeared in the http://www.tntmagazine.in under caption "North East Girl stabbed again in Delhi", the ZHRF said such crimes depict the reality of life, the failure of law and order mechanism, the incompetency of the power to safeguard and protect its citizens.
Saying that North East People reside in metropolitan cities to practise jobs or get education, the Foundation pointed out that indigenous tribal Girls from the North East face numerous problems and difficulties in their daily chores in Delhi.
Crimes against the north east tribal people violate the educational, economic and cultural rights of Indigenous Tribals, the statement added.
