Imphal, November 17 2014:
In protest against the disparity in release of salary for Plan employees of Irrigation & Flood Control Department (IFCD) since 2013, Plan employees of the department have launched cease work strike and sit-in-protest from yesterday.
Speaking to media persons, L Sanrananda, convener of Ad-Hoc Committee on the Non-Gazetted Employees' (Plan), IFC Department lamented that monthly salary for Plan employees of the department are given after a gap of three/four months while those of Non-Plan are given on monthly basis without fail.

He said that Plan employees had launched cease work strike in connection with the matter in the past which was later ceased following assurance given by Chief Engineer of the department.
But the assurance has not been put into action till date.
Above all, salaries for 540 Plan employees were not released ahead of Ningol Chakouba festival.
Such lackadaisical attitude of the concerned authorities has prompted the employees to continue with its cease work stir and sit-in-protest, he rued.
Pointing out that a sum of Rs 1280 lakh was sanctioned for release of salary for the three months (June, July & August) but only Rs 550 lakh was earmarked to do the needful, the convener questioned why salary for the month of October should not be given provided the huge amount of money already sanctioned for release of salary for the employees.
The employees have held talk with IFCD Minister on the matter but no positive response has been given so far, he added.
Saying that a written statement was submitted to Chief Minister on November 14 requesting to hold a talk on the matter of which reply is awaited, he asserted that the ongoing cease work strike and sit-in-protest would be stopped immediately if due salaries of the employees up to the current month are released.
