Imphal, September 27 2021: Post mortem examination of Athuan Abonmai's body which was supposed to be held today has been delayed following a 'small conflict' between the Government and the JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai.

The JAC held another round of meeting with Chief Minister N Biren today and resolved the conflict and the two sides came to an understanding.

As such, post mortem examination would be done tomorrow.

Speaking to media persons this evening, JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai convenor Majabung Gangmei conveyed that the two sides still agreed on keeping the mortal remains of Athuan at RIMS mortuary even after completion of post mortem.

The Government has started due process on the JAC's demand to hand over the murder case of Athuan Abonmai to the NIA.

However, there is no agreement as yet on the JAC's demand for suspension of both the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Tamenglong district, Majabung said.

He went on to assert that Athuan Abonmai was abducted in broad daylight because of security lapses on the part of the DC and the SP.

The transfer of the DC and the SP was discussed at today's meeting and the JAC made it clear that they would not be pacified by the transfer.

After listening to the JAC's argument, Chief Minister N Biren sought some time to look into technical aspects of the demand (for suspension of the DC and the SP), Majabung conveyed.

According to the JAC convenor, the JAC also assured that he would do everything to work out a solution shortly.

There is no withdrawal of the JAC's announcement to impose a 48 hour bandh on NH-37 and NH-2 with effect from this midnight, he said.

Informing that different modes of agitation would be launched one after another, Majabung said that there would be total shutdown across the State from September 29 midnight till September 30 midnight if the JAC's demands are not fulfilled within the 48 hours highway bandh.

Further course of action has also been chalked out, he said.

He then appealed to all the people of the State to support the JAC's 48 hours bandh on NH-37 and NH-2 against the brutal murder of Athuan Abonmai.
