Imphal, April 27: Six PULF cadres including its general secretary, deputy commander-in-chief, finance secretary, publicity secretary and chief of army have been apprehended by a team of Manipur Police led by SP Imphal East Th Radheshyam from a hotel at Mysore at about 9 this morning.

Talking to The Sangai Express over phone, SP Th Radheshyam said that following a specific information that PULF leaders were meeting at Kolkata, a police team including himself and two commando officers of Imphal East district went to Kolkata on April 24. But the scheduled meeting of PULF at Kolkata did not take place and in the meantime it was learnt that the PULF leaders were meeting at Chennai.

Subsequently, the police went down to Chennai.

But there too the meeting did not materialise.

Then the police team went to Bangalore where the PULF leaders were reported to be holding their meeting.

This morning it was informed that the PULF leaders were actually meeting at Mysore.

With the assistance of the Mysore Police Commissioner, the Manipur police team managed to nab the six PULF leaders from a hotel there, informed the SP.

The PULF leaders were having their annual meeting at Gupta Lodge, Ashoka Road, Mysore when they were arrested.

A thick volume of documents including annual expenditure statement have been recovered from their possession, Radheshyam said.

The arrested PULF leaders are identified as general secretary Md Islaodin alias Ibrahim Qazi alias MI Khan (45) of Keirao Mayai Leikai, deputy commander in chief and finance secretary Md Naseer Khan alias Thadoi alias Keshorjit alias Boy (38) of Hiyangthang Tarahei, organising secretary and publicity secretary Md Abdul Jabbar alias Belal Khan (55) of Lilong Haoreibi, external affairs secretary and chief of army Md Nurjaman alias Deny (40) of Keirao Tera Makhong and pvt Md Nur Safi (33) of Yairipok Changamdabi and pvt Md Mustapha (22) of Keirao Makha Leikai.

It is reported that it would take some days to bring the apprehended PULF leaders to Imphal.

Rapist thrashed to death: The individual accused of raping an 11 year old girl from Andro Mamang Leikai on March 27 was thrashed to death by a mob last night, informed a police source.

The deceased rapist is identified as Asheibam Pishak (48) s/o late Jiten of Andro Khunyai Leikai.
