Imphal, June 05 2016 :
Ruling Congress MLA RK Anand has categorically stated that the Government should respond to the many queries and questions raised by the public about former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan.
Responding to a query raised by media persons during an inspection visit to a health centre at Mongshangei today, Anand asserted that the Government ought to come up with a clarification if the authenticity of Khomdram Ratan's image uploaded in social networking sites is becoming a public issue.
Saying that he has no idea which political compulsion compelled the State Government to take up such a step, Anand maintained that the Government should have conducted proper prima facie investigation on Ratan.
But there arises one pertinent question whether the particular image was not available earlier.
If the Government's step turns out to be wrong, there is no harm in revoking it.
At the same time, if Ratan was walking the wrong path, necessary actions should be initiated in accordance to law.
However, if no charge-sheet can be filed against Ratan, it must be assumed that the Government's step has some lapses.
Nonetheless, Anand maintained that his comments should be viewed from the premise of his legal background, not from his position as a legislator.
The State Government, particularly the Home Minister or the Government spokesman should come out with a clarification on the matter, he added.
