Ngaranphung Shining Youth club today organized the first cultural meet at Ngaranphung village, Senapati district.
It was sponsored by United Committee of Manipur (UCM).
Konsam Langamba VP of UCM was the Chief Guest of'the function.
Thomas head man of the village presided over the function.
Lalit Singh of Romi Bags was the Guest of Honour.
The chairman of NSYC giving the welcome address said the cultural meet is organized to preserve the culture though it is declining day by day.
Langamba said organization of such festival will inculcate the feeling of living together.
Tangkhul respect their culture, and use their culture, language properly.
The Tangkhul are following the age old customs specially during the religious and social functions.
All communities should respect the culture and tradition of all communities he said.
The UCM stands for all, for all the people living in Manipur he said.
The village which is quite near to Imphal does not look develop.
If the district is under the jurisdiction of Thoubal or Imphal East it will develop faster he said.
The Tribal development department is giving money however such a village which is quite near Imphal is not developed he said.
It clearly shows the developmental funds are diverted somewhere else we should check the loop holes he said.
He said we all should live together.
The headman of the village giving the presidential address said the village had no money to organize the festival and the village has no politician.
The government also assured to provide assistance to organize the festival but the help never materialized he said.
Culture is our identity he said.
Meitei, Kuki, Meitei Pangal have their own culture and they should respect each other he said.
The hill and plain people were living together but after the advent of Hindism differences arose.
However we all are one he said.
The hill and the plain are one everybody says but nobody is ready to start doing on the line practically he said.
A dance competition was also organized.
Seven teams participated.
For men a different competition named Lummalu dance, competition was organized.
Ninghalen and Aaron stood first.
Kumtar, Francis, Thongam and Isaac stood second positions.
In the women's group Thingchao dance competition was organized.
Grasme and Sophia stood first, Ningailai and Tharmila stood second.
