Imphal, June 14:
Cracking its whip, the State Government has served notices to two individuals whose families are close to UGs for confiscation of their properties under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act even as steps have been initiated for taking up action against those who are amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source conveyed that along with registering two cases, the State Government served notices to individuals whose families are close to UGs under the Central Act (Prevention of Money Laundering).
Consequent to serving of the notices, the State Government would be taking up necessary steps to confiscate all their illegally acquired wealth and properties, the source disclosed.
It may be recalled here that during his last visit to Imphal, Union Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekher had discussed matters related to imposing the Act against all those who are amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
